Introduction:

Gado-gado is a famous Indonesian salad that’s believed to have originated in Jakarta in the 16th century. It’s a vegetarian dish made with a variety of raw and cooked vegetables, eggs, tofu, tempeh, and other ingredients, and often served with a peanut sauce dressing:

Gado-gado typically includes:
● Raw, blanched, steamed, or slightly boiled vegetables like green beans, bean sprouts, and cabbage
● Hard-boiled eggs
● Boiled potato
● Fried tofu and tempeh
● Lontong (rice wrapped in a banana leaf)
● Crispy prawn crackers

The peanut sauce is made with ingredients like natural peanut butter, red curry paste, kecap manis (Indonesian sweet soy sauce), and sambal oelak or other chili paste.

Gado-gado is available at hawkers’ carts, stalls (warung), restaurants, and hotels in Indonesia, as well as Indonesian-style restaurants around the world.

Gado-gado is an Indonesian version of a mixed salad. It usually consists of a variety of vegetables, eggs, tempeh, and tofu. The vegetables are usually just slightly boiled, tossed with a nut completed with the addition of crispy prawn crackers.

Sauce Making:

Ingredients-

  • 1 Medium Onion
  • 2 Cloves of Garlic
  • 155 gm Roasted Ground Almonds
  • 2 tsp of Dark Soy Sauce
  • 1 tbsp of Brown Sugar
  • 1 tsp of Dry Chili Powder
  • 1 tsp of Tamarind
  • 3 Bay Leaves
  • 3 tbsp of Soybean Oil
  • 3/4 cup Thick Coconut Milk
  • 1 Red Chili
  • Salt to Taste

Instructions-

1. First, heat a wok with three tablespoons of soybean oil. When the oil is hot, add one medium size onion, two cloves of minced garlic, 155 gms roasted and ground Chinese almonds, two teaspoons of dark soy sauce, one tablespoon of brown sugar, 2 teaspoons of dry chili powder, one teaspoon of turmeric and three bay leaves in hot oil. give it Then stir with a spoon and fry for five minutes.

2. After roasting the spices for 5 minutes, add 3/4 cup of thick coconut milk. Continue to boil everything together. Finely chop the green chillies. If the sauce is thick add green chillies. Then take down the wok. Leave the pot open and cool.

Gado Gado Making:

Ingredients-

  • 2 Small Carrots
  • 2 Medium Potatoes
  • 100 gm of Cabbage
  • 155 gm of Cabbage
  • 250 gm of Sprouted Dal
  • 12 Lettuce Leaves
  • 2 Medium Tomatoes
  • 3 Hard Boiled Eggs
  • 1 Small Cucumber
  • Dry Fried Onion (Barista)

Instructions-

1. Wash two carrots. Then make thin slices with the help of a knife or chop it. Wash and peel the potatoes. Then cut the potatoes into one centimeter square pieces or slices.

2. Boil water in another vessel along with salt. When the water boils, add the chopped potatoes to the boiled salted water. Then boil the potatoes for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, add carrots and boil for another minute. Once cooked, take the carrots and potatoes out of the pot. Then wash with clean water and drain the water.

3. Now heat a little oil in a frying pan. After that, fry the chopped cabbage and the chopped cabbage in the oil with a little water. Saute until the vegetables are half cooked but not soft.

4. Now heat some water. Then take the sprouted dal in a sieve. Pour boiling water over the grate. Then drain the water from the dal. Keep aside in a bowl. Clean and wash the lettuce leaves. Fry the onion. After roasting, make a coarse powder and spread it in the air.

5. Now take a bowl to decorate the salad. Garnish the lettuce leaves on the salad plate. Top it with potatoes, carrots and cabbage. Pinch the sprung dal together. Cut the tomatoes lengthwise. Slice cucumber and egg. Garnish the salad with tomato, egg, cucumber. Pour the sauce on top and serve. Sprinkle Beresta over the sauce.

Indonesian style gado gado is ready. Now serve it.
